Going from emails to eyes-shut in one step rarely works. Here is how a 20 minute runway changes the way bedtime feels.

Most of us treat bedtime as a switch. The laptop closes, the lights go out and we expect our minds to follow. But a day that ran at full speed does not stop on command, and the harder we push, the more awake we feel.
Think of it as a runway
Aircraft do not land by stopping in the air. They descend gradually, lining up with a long strip of ground. An evening works the same way. A runway is a short, repeatable stretch of time that tells your body and your attention that the day is ending.
A good routine is not about doing more. It is about doing the same few quiet things in the same order.
A 20 minute version
You do not need an hour. Twenty minutes is enough for most people to feel a change, and it fits into real life. Here is the structure our members use most often:
Minutes 0 to 5. Dim the lights and put the phone on its night screen. Close the last open tab on purpose.
Minutes 5 to 10. Do one slow physical thing: stretch, wash your face, set out tomorrow’s clothes.
Minutes 10 to 15. Breathe slowly for three or four minutes, with a longer breath out than in.
Minutes 15 to 20. Get into bed and start a sound mix or a story with a fade-out timer.
Try this tonight. Keep the order the same for a week before changing anything. The repetition does most of the work.
When it does not work
Some nights the runway will feel pointless. That is normal. Treat it as practice rather than a promise, and keep the steps small enough that you can do them even when you are tired. If sleep troubles are persistent or worrying, talk to a healthcare professional. Evenfall is a wellness app and does not diagnose or treat any condition.
